Most "voice changers" just speed your voice up or down. HappyRec shifts pitch and vocal-tract formants independently, so converted voices keep their human character. It's pure signal processing, so it works the same in every language, with nothing to configure.
Robot, Anonymous, Cave and Radio effects are on Mac. Windows has the pitch and character presets.

Pick a character and HappyRec animates it from your real expressions: blinking, mouth movement and head tilt, using on-device face tracking. The camera feed drives the animation and is never stored or recorded.

Is HappyRec really free?
Yes, on every platform. No subscription, no trial limit, no in-app purchases. Recordings carry a small HappyRec badge in the corner.
Which HappyRec should I install?
On a Mac, the Mac app gives you the voice changer and avatars. On Windows, install the Windows app. If you mainly record web pages, can't install software, or want to draw on the page, add the Chrome or Edge extension. You can use more than one.
Do the Chrome and Edge extensions work on Mac and Windows?
Yes. They run anywhere Chrome or Edge 116+ runs, including macOS, Windows, Linux and ChromeOS. On a Mac, macOS asks you to give the browser Screen Recording permission the first time you record your screen or a window.
Does the voice changer work in my language?
Yes. The presets use pure signal processing (pitch plus formant shifting), so they work the same in every spoken language. The voice changer is in the Mac and Windows apps.
Can I record without showing my face?
Yes. On Mac, Avatar mode animates one of 12 characters from your expressions while your camera image is never recorded. On Windows and in the extensions you can show your logo in the bubble instead.
Can I draw on the screen while recording?
Yes, in the Chrome and Edge extensions: pen, highlighter, arrow, box and circle in six colours, with undo. Press Ctrl+Shift+7 (⌘⇧7 on Mac) on a web page, or right-click and choose "Draw on this page".
Does HappyRec record system audio and my mic together?
Yes, on every platform. The extensions record tab audio everywhere and full system audio where the browser allows it.
What quality can HappyRec record at?
720p, 1080p or 4K, at 30 or 60 frames per second, on every platform.
Where do my recordings go?
Only to your computer. Mac: a folder you choose. Windows: Videos\HappyRec. Extensions: Downloads/Happy Recorder, or a folder you pick each time.
Does HappyRec upload or collect any data?
No. There are no accounts and no cloud. Face tracking for avatars runs entirely on your Mac and the camera image is never stored. See the Privacy Policy.
Can I pause a recording?
Yes on Mac and in the extensions. Paused time is cut from the file, not recorded as a gap. The Windows app records in one take for now.
What permissions are needed?
Screen recording, microphone and (optionally) camera, the same as any recorder. The Mac app walks you through each one. In the extensions, your browser asks what to share each time you record.
