Avatars & Presenter Overlay

Present without showing your face

Pick one of 12 animated avatars and HappyRec drives it from your real expressions — blinking, mouth movement, head tilt — using on-device face tracking. Your camera image itself is never recorded.

How avatars work

HappyRec uses Apple's Vision framework to track your face live: blink, mouth position, and head tilt all feed into the avatar in real time. The tracking runs entirely on your Mac — the actual camera frames are used only to compute that tracking data and are discarded immediately after, never written to disk or sent anywhere.

Turning it on

Turn on the Camera bubbleFrom the main window, or from Preferences → Camera & Mic.
Enable "Prefer avatar over camera"In Preferences → Camera & Mic.
Pick a character, shape, and sizeCircle or card, draggable and resizable right from the main window.
Four of the twelve — Arjun, Sofia, Victor, and Amira — are deliberately business-ready presenters, good for corporate training or anything more formal than a casual stream.

Prefer your real face, or neither?

Turn off "Prefer avatar over camera" and the same bubble shows a live Face Cam instead, which auto-zooms to keep your face centered. Want to show neither? Switch the overlay to a Logo bubble and display your own image instead. All three — Avatar, Face Cam, Logo — get burned directly into the recording, so they appear even in Window and Area modes, where a floating overlay window could never normally be captured.
