Record your screen — in your voice, a new voice, or as an avatar
HappyRec is a free, native Mac screen recorder with a real-time voice changer and face-tracked avatars. Make tutorials, lectures and product demos without showing your face or your raw voice — and without accounts, uploads or tracking.

Features
Everything a Mac screen recorder needs — plus the things none of them have
Record any screen
Full display, a single window, or a drag-to-select area — up to 4K at 60 fps with Apple's hardware encoder.
Change your voice in real time
Male, Female, Robot, Anonymous and more. Formant-preserving conversion that sounds natural — not chipmunk-ish — in every language.
Present as an avatar
Twelve animated characters, including business-ready presenters, blink, talk and tilt with your real face. Your camera image is never recorded.
Face cam that follows you
The camera bubble auto-zooms to keep your face centered and is burned into the video in every capture mode — even single-window recordings.
Your brand on every video
Show your logo as a corner bubble and stamp your own watermark text — small, crisp and readable on any background.
Voice notes too
Voice-only mode records straight to M4A or WAV — with the voice changer available there as well.
System audio + mic
Capture app and browser sound alongside your narration, with live mic levels and independent toggles.
Nothing leaves your Mac
No accounts, no cloud, no analytics. Face tracking runs on-device; recordings save straight to disk.
Voice changer
A natural Male or Female voice — in any language you speak
Most "voice changers" just speed your voice up or down. HappyRec shifts pitch and vocal-tract formants independently — the technique used in professional audio tools — so converted voices keep their human character. Because it's pure signal processing, it works identically in every language. Nothing to configure.
Avatars & presenter overlay
Present without showing your face
Pick a character and HappyRec animates it from your real expressions — blinking, mouth movement and head tilt — using on-device face tracking. The camera feed drives the animation and is never stored or recorded.
Prefer your real face? The Face Cam bubble auto-zooms to keep you centered and is composited straight into the recording. Prefer neither? Show a logo bubble instead.
How it works
Three steps from launch to finished recording
Pick a source
Screen, a single window, a custom area — or voice-only notes to M4A/WAV.
Pick a presenter and a voice
Face cam, avatar or logo bubble — then choose a voice preset and hear yourself live before you hit record.
Record, pause, done
Pause and continue anytime. Every take lands in Recent Recordings, saved locally, ready to share.
Who it's for
Made for people who record their screen every week
Course creators
Record lessons in 4K with your face (or an avatar) in the corner and your brand watermark on every video.
YouTube tutorials
Capture app walkthroughs with system audio, a centered face cam and chapter-friendly pause/continue.
Privacy-first presenters
Teach or explain on camera without being on camera — an avatar carries your expressions, a preset changes your voice.
Corporate training
Professional business avatars, a company logo bubble and clean 1080p output for internal academies.
Bug reports & QA
Area-select exactly the broken part, narrate what happened, and share a small local file — no upload portal.
Voice notes & dubs
Quick M4A/WAV voice memos — recorded in your voice or a converted one.
Built for macOS
Native, not ported
HappyRec is written in Swift and SwiftUI on Apple's ScreenCaptureKit, AVFoundation and Vision frameworks — no Electron, no virtual drivers. It idles quietly in the menu bar, asks only for the permissions macOS requires, and explains each one during a guided setup.
- 720p / 1080p / 4K at 30 or 60 fps — chosen per recording
- Menu-bar quick start, keyboard shortcuts, countdown timer

FAQ
Common questions
Still curious? Reach the team at info@happycoders.in.
Is HappyRec really free?
Yes. HappyRec is completely free — no subscription, no trial limit, no locked features. Recordings carry a small HappyRec badge in the corner.
Does the voice changer work in my language?
Yes. The Male, Female and other presets use pure signal processing (pitch plus formant shifting), so they sound the same in every spoken language — English, Spanish, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, German and more. There is no language setting because none is needed.
Can I record my screen without showing my face?
Yes. Avatar mode animates one of 12 characters — including business-ready presenters — from your facial expressions while your camera image never gets recorded. You can also show a logo bubble instead of any face.
Does HappyRec record system audio and mic at once?
Yes. System audio and microphone are independent toggles, mic level is visible live, and the voice changer applies to the mic in real time when enabled.
Can I record voice notes without the screen?
Yes. Voice mode records microphone-only audio straight to M4A or WAV — with the voice changer available there too.
What quality can HappyRec record at?
720p, 1080p or 4K, at 30 or 60 frames per second, using Apple's hardware H.264 encoder for small, smooth files.
Where do recordings get saved?
Locally, to a folder you choose (default ~/Movies/HappyRec). They appear immediately in the Recent Recordings list with play, reveal and delete actions.
Does HappyRec upload or collect any data?
No. There are no accounts, no analytics, no cloud sync. Face tracking runs entirely on your Mac and the camera image is never stored. See the Privacy Policy.
Does it work on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs?
Yes. HappyRec is a native macOS app (Swift and SwiftUI, no Electron) and runs on both, on macOS 13 Ventura or later.
What permissions does HappyRec need?
macOS requires explicit Screen Recording, Microphone and (optionally) Camera permission for any recorder. HappyRec walks you through each grant with live status and a one-click relaunch.
Can I add my own watermark or logo?
Yes. Add your own watermark text in any corner, and/or show your logo image as a floating bubble that is burned into the video in every capture mode.
Can I pause a recording and continue later?
Yes. Pause and continue mid-recording — paused time is cut from the file, not recorded as a gap.
